FAQ

How do I calculate hours worked?+

Subtract the start time from the end time, then subtract any unpaid break. Working 9:00 to 17:30 with a 30 minute break is 8 hours.

What are decimal hours?+

Hours expressed as a decimal instead of hours and minutes: divide the minutes by 60, so 7 hours 30 minutes becomes 7.5 hours. Payroll and timesheet systems usually want this format.

Does it handle overnight shifts?+

Yes. If the end time is earlier than the start time, the calculator assumes the shift crossed midnight and adds 24 hours, so 22:00 to 06:00 counts as 8 hours.
